In modern life a person uses a lot of electrical devices for various purposes. Electrical appliances and tools are widely used to solve industrial and household needs. It is often necessary to use 1-phase and 3-phase devices at the same time to solve certain tasks, and this is where difficulties arise. A conventional 3-phase generator must operate with an evenly distributed load. Otherwise it can fail. This fact creates a number of difficulties when connecting 1-phase appliances to a 3-phase generator (see article about this).
Technical side of the issue.
In 1-phase mode, 2 phases of a 3-phase generator are used, which with a neutral can be a source of 120V and 240V / 1 phase voltage. Such a schema can provide power to a single-phase load at the presented rated power. But since the neutral with such a connection is switching to zero, a generator cannot be used to power a 3-phase load, since zero will no longer be neutral.
A generator with the ability to switch operating modes can provide the same power to a 3-phase and 1-phase load, but not at the same time. Moreover, previously the difference in voltage wave angles in zigzag wiring was 60 degrees. This wave had the shape of a trapezoid, which led to negative noise distortion.
There are of course options for using classic generators for simultaneous connection of 1-phase and 3-phase loads. However, they are inefficient and cumbersome (see article ...).
"Simul-phase" is a universal solution for generator users.
SHINDAIWA developed “Simul Phase” technology to solve these and other problems.
Connecting on Simul Phase technology.
The new technological solution is a generator in which windings for a 3-phase load are wound parallel with windings for a 1-phase power supply. Wiring of the new alternator with a combination of 120-degree windings eliminated the waveform component noise.
This wiring is called “W wiring”.
As a consequence, the use of this type of winding resulted in the appearance of a “fine sine wave” and a good wave between the terminals (clean sine wave without distortion), where the distortion factor: is less than 1.5% without load. This generator is a Good quality power source.
Thus, generators using “Simul Phase” technology are capable of generating output power simultaneously for both 3-phase and 1-phase loads in parallel.
In this case, the output power is available in the specified power range for a specific generator model and the use of the generator to power different loads does not pose problems of phase imbalance or extraneous harmonics.
The benefits of the Simul Phase generator.
Eventually Simul Phase generators allows you to use one device instead of two, or instead of one more powerful generator. The latter is usually is significantly larger in size or more expensive, which has a higher noise level and fuel consumption, which also negatively affects its autonomy.
The advantages described above is very highly valued on industrial sector (construction sites, repair works teams) or domestic use (concert venues, holding any events).
The benefit is obvious - one Simul Phase device with small dimensions, lower price, lower fuel consumption, lower noise level is able to perform all the tasks.
The use of SHINDAIWA universal generators is the ideal balance between price, rationality, technological and efficiency of their use.
